PUMPKINS START WORK ON THEIR FIRST ALBUM FOR SEVEN YEARS
Reformed rockers SMASHING PUMPKINS have begun work on their first album in seven years, according to a post on the group's official website. The short message confirms the group is in the studio with producer ROY THOMAS BAKER, who is best known for his work with theatrical rockers QUEEN and the DARKNESS. But the website posting doesn't reveal the new Pumpkins line-up. Only frontman BILLY CORGAN and drummer JIMMY CHAMBERLIN are confirmed in the line-up. The four-piece split acrimoniously in 2000, but Corgan offered fans hope last summer (05) when he took out a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times newspaper announcing his plans to reform the group. It is not known if guitarist JAMES IHA and bassist D'ARCY WRETZKY have been welcomed back to the line-up.
