PUBLISHING EXECUTIVE BIENSTOCK DIES

ELVIS PRESLEY's music publisher FREDDY BIENSTOCK has died at the age of 86.
The mogul passed away on Sunday (20Sep09) at his home in New York City. The cause of death is unknown.
Bienstock landed Presley as a client when the King signed to Hill & Range, a leading publisher in country music, and the pair worked together on hits like Jailhouse Rock and Don't.
He set up his own company, Carlin America, in 1994 and acquired the rights to songs including songwriter Jim Steinman's Paradise by the Dashboard Light, performed by Meatloaf, AC DC's Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap and Eddie Cooley and John Davenport's R&B classic Fever.
Bienstock is survived by his wife Miriam, his daughter Caroline, his son Robert, and five grandchildren.
