PROSECUTORS SEEK TO REVOKE FRANCIS' BAIL
GIRLS GONE WILD creator JOE FRANCIS is facing more jail time - prosecutors want his bail revoked as he awaits trial in his ongoing tax evasion case.Francis was placed under house arrest last week (03Feb09) after he was detained in jail overnight for failing to show up for a court hearing.
The adult filmmaker was due to appear before a judge after his legal team from Bernhoft Law Firm submitted a motion to withdraw as his counsel but he showed up at the court five hours late, claiming he was suffering with flu.
In a brief filed on Monday (09Feb09), prosecutors argue Francis has shown a "complete lack of respect" for the court by missing the appointment.
Francis is accused of filing a fraudulent tax return worth $20 million (£13.6 million).
He is due back in court on Wednesday (11Feb09) and is scheduled to stand trial in March (09), facing up to 10 years behind bars if convicted.
