PROMOTER HINTS AT 'BIG REFORMATION'
A leading promoter has hinted that a high-profile rock band is set to reform during 2009.
In the wake of recent stories that LED ZEPPELIN are to tour with or without frontman Robert Plant - promoter Rob Hallett has claimed another legendary reunion "isn't a million miles away".
Speaking to BBC News, he said he cannot reveal the details of who the mystery band are, but insisted that it will please a lot of people "of a certain age".
"If you were a teenage boy in the pre-punk '70s you're going to be very excited. Outside of Led Zeppelin, this is probably the biggest reformation you can hope for," he said.
Readers of Uncut have been speculating on who the band could be on the magazine's blog, with names mooted including BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, THE FACES, MOTT THE HOOPLE and ELO.
Meanwhile, GUNS N ROSES frontman Axl Rose is rumoured to be trying to put the original line-up of the band back together for a tour next year.

I can't see ELO, Black Sabbath or any of the others listed by readers of Uncut
as relevant or exciting. Sabbath members are busy with a Heaven and Hell outing
due next year, who cares about ELO?
My Freakish, but quite possible honorable mentions:
A Pink Floyd reunion, the loss of Rick Wright has propelled members to reunite
and tour.
Beatles, with George Harrison's son and Julian Lennon filling in for their
respective fathers - both vocally and visual apparitions of the same.
Genesis, the band of Lamb Lies Down on
Broadway fame, and in my mind, the pinacle prog band -Steve Hackett has been
quiet these days.
Led Zeppelin, maybe they keep saying Robert Plant
won't tour because he will and they want to keep
it on the down-low because they do have smashing
new material and need to really hash things out
without any distractions from the press...too late
on that, but i know that's a long shot even reading
it back..
You can't get bigger than these names..
Black Sabbath has reunited several times and I just
don't see that as incredible news on the scale
they speak..
anyhow, that's my take, and wishful thinking list
The band Is Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow!
