PRINCE CHARLES LETTERS SOLD ON EBAY
A group of previously unknown letters written by British royal PRINCE CHARLES have netted more than $29,000 (£20,000) on auction website eBay.
The six handwritten notes sold on Friday (20Mar09) were penned during the 1970s and 1980s - before the prince married his late ex-wife Princess Diana.
They are all said to have been written to receptionist Janet Jenkins, who Charles met while she worked at the British consulate in Montreal, Canada.
One letter, penned just a year before Charles' marriage to the then Lady Diana Spencer, tells of the media pressure he felt to tie the knot.
It reads, "I can see that I will just have to get married as soon as possible and then all these people might relax a little. Don't worry - whatever happens I will make sure you are given early warning."
Jenkins put the letters on sale when her firm, Everything Royal, went bust. An anonymous bidder bagged the notes for their reserve price.
