PRIDE AND PREDATOR IN ALIEN AUSTEN UPDATE

Sir Elton John's production company are to make a film involving an alien attack on a Jane Austen-esque costume drama.

Rocket Pictures are to begin filming Pride and Predator in London later this year, it was announced today, with Sir Elton supervising the film's music.

"It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect," producer David Furnish told Variety.

Will Clark, who directed 2007 short film The Amazing Trousers, will helm Pride and Predator, for which he co-wrote the script.

No cast has yet been announced for the comedy period drama.

Rocket Pictures currently has animated Shakespeare parody Gnomeo and Juliet in development, with Atonement star James McAvoy and The Devil Wears Prada actress Emily Blunt in line to voice gnomes from rival gardens.
