PRESTON STRUGGLES TO FIND WORDS FOR STATEMENT
Devastated JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON were so grief stricken about the death of the teenage son JETT it took them over two days to complete a press statement about the Friday (02Jan09) tragedy.
Actress Preston broke the silence on Sunday (04Jan09) with a note posted to fans on her website.
She wrote, "We would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent their love and condolences.
"Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.
"We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future."
Jett, 16, died Friday while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. One of Travolta's lawyers, Michael MCDermott, has revealed the stunned couple started work on a brief statement on Saturday (03Jan09), but simply couldn't find the words to honour their son and explain their feelings.
MCDermott tells TMZ.com, "They stopped crying long enough to try to write a press statement."
Jett Travolta died after suffering a seizure at the family's Bahamas retreat on Friday (02Jan09). A local coroner is expected to determine the exact cause of death on Monday (05Jan08).

I am writing in hopes to express to the Travolta/Preston Family, my deepest
condolences for the loss of thier son, Jett. It has become clear to me that
this tragedy has affected the majority of the masses, within the general
american public. All I know have been affected and are mourning the loss of
John and Kellys son Jett. The morning of January 3rd, 2009......I woke up, got
out of bed and brushed my teeth. I went to my computer and pushed power as
usual to check for any offline messages. I made some coffee and returned to my
computer, (all should be up and running by now), It was. My Yahoo page was
loaded and on my main screen was the story of John Travolta and Kelly Prestons
tragic and sudden loss. I felt immediately, the caving doom of the chest as
you feel your heart sink to your stomach. To follow was a welling of sudden
tears and a build up of ache in the pit of your stomach that rises up suddenly
to the chest and throat, where the saddness stagnates right in the center, and
nearly chokes you to death. I sat, stunned for a minute and feeling my grief
for these people I've grown up with. I thought...."Oh my god, I have to call
John and Kelly." I then realized, that they don't know me. I don't know
them. Not personally. I don't have their number." Then I thought, "But, I feel
like I've known them all my life. I can't beliwve there's nothing I can do to
help. I have to call Nikki." So I did. I called her, and I said....can you
believe? I can't believe. I feel so bad for them. She said to me, "I know, I
found out this morning and I felt like I should do something". She said, "what
can I do, I started crying is all I could do." I told her I felt the same and
that my immediate instinct was to place a call to see if they needed anything.
We talked about how much a part of our lives it seems to us they have been and
awed at the disbelief that there was nothing we could do, all the way down to
expressing our condolences. We discussed the reasoning behind this and came to
the conclusion that, we have grown up with the both of them, watching them over
the years, and many times in our lives this family has been the topic of
conversation, same as the people in our everyday lives have been. It feels
like someone we all know and love has passed on, and that a family we all know
and love has been devastatingly jolted by a loss so great, that only the others
who've experienced the same sudden misfortune can possibly fully comprehend.
I am so very sorry for your loss and send my deepest felt sympathies to John,
Kelly and Ella Blue.
Sincerely Felt and Truly Meant,
Darla Little
American Canyon, Ca.
