PRESIDENT BUSH FREES RAPPER FORTE
Rapper JOHN FORTE will be freed from prison within weeks after U.S. President GEORGE W. BUSH reduced his sentence for smuggling drugs.
Forte, an affiliate of the Fugees, was jailed for 14 years in 2001 after he was arrested at New Jersey's Newark International Airport in 2000 with a suitcase containing $1.4 million (GBP900,000) worth of cocaine.
The star has always maintained his innocence and turned down a variety of plea deals. His close friend, singer Carly Simon, has long campaigned on his behalf.
But now Forte is to be freed on December 22 (08) after the American leader commuted his sentence. He still faces the possibility of five years of supervised probation.
