POTTER FILM KEEPS CATHEDRAL IN BUSINESS

Keepers of a British cathedral featured in the HARRY POTTER movie franchise have praised film-makers for reviving public interest in the ancient building.
Executives at Warner Bros. Studios paid up to $15,000 (£10,000) a day to use Gloucester Cathedral in England as the backdrop for the Hogwarts school in scenes for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
The historic site was also used in the previous five films, attracting wizard fans from all over the world - and workers at the cathedral are grateful for the extra revenue and visitors.
Cathedral operations manager Bairbre Lloyd says, "It's been absolutely wonderful having the filming here. The Cathedral costs £5,000 a day to run, that's paying musicians, and keeping the building open.
"In terms of filming, without that revenue, we have to raise money from other sources. It's a fabulous resource and a great income stream to have...
"With the first two films, we had around 50,000 extra visitors, so it's been really good for us."
