POSTHUMOUS GOLDEN GLOBE WIN FOR HEATH LEDGER
Posthumous Golden Globe win for Heath Ledger
The late Heath Ledger was awarded a posthumous best supporting actor prize at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
The Dark Knight, who died last January after an accidental overdose of prescription medication, took the Golden Globe ahead of the likes of Philip Seymour Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr for his turn as The Joker.
Director Christopher Nolan, who collected the award on Ledger's behalf, said he would be "eternally missed but never forgotten".
"All of us who worked with Heath on The Dark Knight accept with an awful mixture of sadness but incredible pride," he added.
"After Heath passed, you saw a hole ripped in the future of cinema."
