LATEST: Los Angeles police officials have opened an investigation into an incident after a pre-Oscars party in Hollywood in which JAMES BLUNT ran over a man's foot and then sped off in his car. The YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL singer and his girlfriend PETRA NEMKOVA were leaving a party at Hollywood agent BRYAN LOURD's house on Friday (23FEB07) night when Blunt drove his black SUV over the leg of an autograph seeker. And now TMZ.com has learned police are classing the incident as a "hit and run". Blunt's representatives claim the incident happened as the singer was swarmed by paparazzi, adding, "They were invading his space. He was just trying to quietly leave the party." A spokesman tells the website that Blunt is "looking into the matter and will co-operate".
