POITIER, WEISZ + MINGHELLA TO BE HONOURED AT BRITANNIA AWARDS
SIDNEY POITIER, RACHEL WEISZ and director ANTHONY MINGHELLA will receive Britannia Awards from the Los Angeles chapter of the British Academy of Film + Television Arts in October (06). Poitier will be only the second person honoured with the Cunard Britannia Award for his lifetime achievement - last year (05) British movie maker RONALD NEAME was handed the award. Actress Weisz will be named Artist of The Year and THE ENGLISH PATIENT director Minghella will be presented with the Hohn Schlesinger Britannia Award for Artistic Excellence in Directing. CLINT EASTWOOD has already been named the recipient of BAFTA LA's highest honour, the 2006 Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.
