PLANT RECORDS TRIBUTES TO FATS DOMINO

Former Led Zeppelin frontman ROBERT PLANT has recorded a series of FATS DOMINO covers in a bid to help his hero rebuild his life after Hurricane Katrina ripped through his New Orleans, Louisiana home. The rocker has been recording tracks like It Keeps Raining and Valley Of Tears with local musicians in New Orleans for a planned tribute album. Plant says, "I think the sentiment and rationale behind this makes absolute sense. "I've been to his (Domino) house. You've got to rebuild and do it quick and get the community back in there before it becomes some major new development for something unholy. "So, I think it's a good idea. I'm glad to be here. You have to be humbled when you see what people are having to deal with." And the Stairway To Heaven singer admits he didn't hesitate to get involved when he heard Domino needed help. He adds, "Fats Domino was having huge records in the UK (when I was growing up)... His voice was so charming and endearing. "It was great to meet him too - he was charming, affable, probably a little bit intimidated with the number of people who flocked around him." Plant won't be the only big name on the record - Lenny Kravitz, Sir Paul MCCartney, Sir Elton John and Tom Petty are also involved.
