PIXIES ANNOUNCE ISLE OF WIGHT AS ONLY UK FESTIVAL SHOW
Alternative rock legends the Pixies have confirmed their only UK festival show of 2009 will be on the Isle of Wight this summer.
Frank Black and the indie greats will take to the stage ahead of Sunday night headliner Neil Young, one of the group's biggest influences.
The Where Is My Mind? stars, formed in 1986, have played infrequently together since reforming in 2004 - including a headline slot at the 2005 Reading and Leeds festivals - and will take to the stage on the Isle of Wight on Sunday June 14th for a British festival exclusive.
"It was hard to think of someone capable of complementing the musical talent of Neil Young," said festival promoter John Giddings, "but once I had the idea it was blindly obvious and it will surely be a legendary day on the Isle of Wight."
The lineup for the 2009 Isle of Wight festival so far is:
Prodigy
Basement Jaxx
Ting Tings
Pendulum
Stereophonics
Razorlight
Neil Young
Pixies
Charlatans
The Isle of Wight Festival takes place between June 12th and June 14th at Seaclose Park, Newport on the Isle of Wight.
Some 50,000 fans are expected to attend the event, which has sold out for the last three years.
