PITT MISSES OUT ON OSCARS PRODUCER PRIZE
BRAD PITT will join BEYONCE KNOWLES among those snubbed for a big prize at the Oscars next month (FEB07), after learning he's not eligible to land a producing credit for THE DEPARTED. Pitt and former PLAN B partner BRAD GREY were among the production team behind the movie, but neither will get their hands on an Academy Awards if the film triumphs. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has ruled that only GRAHAM KING will get the credit for The Departed, which will mean only he can claim an Oscar if the crime drama is named Best Film on 25 February (07), Normal Academy rules limits credited producers to three, but Oscars bosses have ruled that only King should be credited for The Departed after Grey backed out of direct involvement with the film and Pitt was also ruled ineligible. Last month (DEC07), Knowles discovered she had been disqualified from possibly taking the Oscars stage as a potential Best Song winner - because only three songwriters can be named and her contribution to DREAMGIRLS ballad LISTEN wasn't considered as great as the tune's leading balladeers.
