PITT: 'JOLIE DIDN'T WRECK MY MARRIAGE'

BRAD PITT has attempted to quash rumours ANGELINA JOLIE wrecked his marriage to JENNIFER ANISTON by insisting there was no "dastardly affair".
The former Friends star hit out at the Tomb Raider actress in October (08) when she branded Jolie "uncool" for admitting she had fallen in love with Pitt while making 2005's Mr. + Mrs. Smith - when he was still married to Aniston.
But Pitt has rushed to his partner's defence by declaring they did not have an affair.
He tells the February (09) issue of U.S. magazine W, "What people don't understand is that we filmed Mr. + Mrs. Smith for a year. We were still filming after Jen (Aniston) and I split up.
"Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't."
And Pitt insists he and Aniston have managed to maintain an amicable relationship - despite tabloid reports of a supposed rivalry between the actress and her ex-husband's new love.
He adds, "I'm very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. Listen, man, Jen is a sweetheart. I think she got dragged into that one, and then there's a second round to all that Angie versus Jen. It's so created.
"We still check in with each other. She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don't see how there cannot be (that). That's life, man. That's life."
