PHISH STAR PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES

Former PHISH star TREY ANASTASIO has pleaded not guilty to a drug possession charge in a Whitehall, New York court. The rocker was arraigned on misdemeanour charges of drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs yesterday (04JAN07), following his arrest last month (15DEC06). Police spotted Anastasio's vehicle weaving across a rural road and pulled him over. During a quick search of his car, they found quantities of prescription painkillers and an anti-anxiety drug that had not been prescribed for Anastasio. Anastasio was not scheduled to appear in court until 10 January (07) and showed up in court unannounced. He is due back in court on 14 February (07). Following his arrest, the rocker released a statement apologising for his arrest. He wrote, "I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment I have caused my friends, family and fans."
