PHISH FRONTMAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO DRUG CHARGES

Former PHISH frontman TREY ANASTASIO has been released on bail after pleading not guilty to a string of drug charges following his December (06) arrest in New York. The 42-year-old singer was arraigned on charges of illegally possessing prescription painkillers, heroin and an anti-anxiety medication prescribed for another person and driving while impaired in a Fort Edward court on Tuesday (27FEB07). The star's lawyer STEVE COFFEY said his client has acknowledged he has a drug problem and is seeking treatment for it. Last month (JAN07), he completed a 28-day treatment programme in a bid of overcome his addiction. Coffey said, "He has a problem, he knows it and is working with it. He told me, 'I'm here to face the consequences and work it out with the court and go on with my life.'" Anastasio is set to return to court next month (27MAR07).
