PHARRELL BACKS 'GREEN FABRIC'

PHARRELL WILIAMS has invested in a New York textiles firm and will promote the use of environmentally sustainable fabrics, it as bee reported.

The NERD frontman has lent his backing to 'Bionic Yarn', a new business which makes fabric out of recycled plastic bottles.

According to WWD, Williams will also be an ambassador and spokesperson for the brand.

Williams – who has produced the likes of MADONNA and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE - recently teamed up with THE STROKES' Julian Casablancas and SANTOGOLD on a track for Converse shoes.

He said the collaboration has left him keen to work with the New York band on their next record.

"Julian and I were in the studio together," he explained. "We came together and did a track for the commemoration of the 100th year anniversary of the Chuck Taylor [shoe]," he explained.

"I really wanna do it. I don't know [if Casablancas wants me], but I'd love to [produce their next album]."

The Strokes are due to start work on the follow-up to 2006's FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH in February.
