PETTY IS TOP TOUR
Rising gas prices and recession fears in the U.S. didn't upset TOM PETTY + THE HEARTBREAKERS' tour - the veteran rockers beat THE POLICE and DAVE MATTHEWS BAND to top the touring charts in North America this summer (08).
The American Girl hitmakers raked in over $32 million (GBP17.3 million) and became the only touring supergroup to make more than $30 million (GBP16.2 million) on the road this summer, according to new Pollstar tour tracking estimates.
The Dave Matthews Band came in second with $29.5 million (GBP16 million) and The Police's final reunion tour shows brought in $28.3 million (GBP15.3 million), putting them third.
Neil Diamond and Coldplay round out the top five.
