PETTY ADDS MORE MILES TO THE FINAL HIGHWAY

TOM PETTY + THE HEARTBREAKERS have extended dates on what is being touted as the group's last tour. Petty announced earlier this year (06) that he was considering turning his back on touring after completing dates on his 30th anniversary Highway Companion tour, but he's keen to add a few more miles to the highway first. North American dates will now continue into October (06) with acts like BECK and the BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA added as support acts. The group will also headline the Vegoose Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada on 28 October (06). PEARL JAM, THE STOKES, the BLACK CROWES and JOHN MAYER are among the other acts who have opened for Petty and The Heartbreakers this tour, while FLEETWOOD MAC star STEVIE NICKS has been inducted as "an honorary Heartbreaker" for her guest appearances on the road. Meanwhile, the group's record-breaking return home to Gainesville, Florida on 21 September (06) - the first time they've played there in 13 years - will be filmed for a new DVD.
