PETE DOHERTY JAILED AFTER BREAKING PROBATION ORDER

Pete Doherty has been jailed for 14 weeks after violating the terms of his probation order.

The Babyshambles frontman received the sentence after a hearing at West London magistrates' court this morning.

Judge Davinder Lachar said the singer was to be punished for "his breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his [drug] order and using different drugs", according to a spokesperson from the court's listing department.

The prison sentence marks the latest in a long line of legal troubles for the former Libertine, who served two months in jail in 2003 after burgling his band mate Carl Barat's flat.

Doherty was asked to leave the Libertines in 2004 due to his continued drug abuse and has made the headlines for numerous narcotics offences as well as brushes with the paparazzi, allegations of assault and reported joy riding.

He was given a four-month suspended custodial sentence in October of last year when Judge Lachar cleared the remainder of a pre-existing drug control order.

He was also handed an 18-month supervision order and a 12-month drug rehabilitation order.

And the musician was also ordered to pay a £400 fine for driving without insurance and £75 for having no MOT certificate.

Following the hearing in October, Doherty told reporters outside the court: "I have just had enough really.

"It's just the beginning, you know what I mean. My life has changed."
