PETA URGE PROSECUTORS TO GET TOUGH WITH DMX
Animal rights activists are calling for rapper DMX to be "vigorously prosecuted" following his animal cruelty arrest on Friday (09May08).
The hitmaker, real name Earl Simmons, was charged with seven misdemeanour counts of cruelty when police stormed his home in Arizona and took five pit bull terrier puppies into care.
He was also charged with drug possession, but it's the dog cruelty rap which has prompted People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals officials to send an urgent plea to Maricopa County Attorney Andrew P. Thomas urging his office to push for harsh punishment for the rapper.
In August (07), authorities discovered 12 reportedly neglected, malnourished, and scarred pit bulls on Simmons' Arizona property.
And PETA bosses think it's high time DMX was taught a lesson.
In an action alert on its popular website, PETA urges visitors to contact Thomas and demand that Simmons is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
PETA cruelty caseworker Peter Wood writes, "Simmons appears to be either unable or unwilling to provide even the most basic care for animals. People who demonstrate such blatant disregard for life and desensitization to suffering can pose a serious risk to all animals-including humans-with whom they come into contact."
PETA is asking that, if convicted and in addition to serving a period of incarceration, Simmons be prohibited from owning or harbouring animals and that he be required to undergo a thorough psychological evaluation followed by mandatory counselling.

7 Things You Didn't Know About PeTA
1. PeTA has stated repeatedly that their goal is "total animal liberation." This
means no pets, no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no fishing, no hunting, no
farming, no leather, and no animal testing for lifesaving medicines.
2. PeTA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent
criminals.
3. PeTA funds the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine an animal-rights
organization that presents itself as an unbiased source for nutritional information
and has links to violent animal-rights groups called SHAC and ALF.
4. PeTA has used their contributors tax-exempt donations to fund the North American
Earth Liberation front and the Animal Liberation Front, FBI-certified domestic terrorist
groups responsible for fire bombs and death threats.
5. PeTA regularly targets kids as early as elementary school with anti-meat and anti-milk
propaganda. They are totally opposed to traditional farming methods.
6. PeTA spends less than one percent of its $13 million budget actually caring for
animals. PeTA kills animals.
7. PeTA has repeatedly attacked groups like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS
Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, for conducting animal testing to find
cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases.
