PET SHOP BOYS TO BE HONOURED AT BRITS

The Pet Shop Boys are to be presented with an outstanding contribution to music award at next year's Brits, it has been confirmed.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe will be honoured and perform at the awards ceremony on February 18th.

The dance duo have sold some 50 million records, including four number one singles, 22 top ten hits and a 39 top 30 singles.

The pair picked up their first Brit award in 1987 for Best British Single with West End Girls and won Best British Group in 1988.

Ged Doherty, chairman of the Brits committee said, "Since their first Brit Award over 20 years ago, Neil and Chris have produced a fantastic body of work with songs that truly were the soundtrack to a whole generation's lives.

"The Pet Shop Boys have since become one of the most influential groups of the modern era and are deserving recipients of the award."

Previous winners of the prestigious award include U2, David Bowie, and last year's winner Sir Paul McCartney.
