PERRY GOES HOME FOR EMOTIONAL TV NEWS SPECIAL

Moviemaker TYLER PERRY fought back tears as he returned to the New Orleans, Louisiana home where he was abused by his "profane" father for an upcoming TV news special.
The actor/director took cameramen from U.S. show 60 Minutes back to where he grew up and showed them the crawlspace under his childhood home where he hid from his violent dad.
Choking back tears, he says, "I'd spend all day in there. I had a door there, so I could go in and close myself up... to be OK for a minute."
The news special airs in America on Sunday (25Oct09).
Meanwhile, in a post on his website on Friday (23Oct09), Perry admits he has confronted his father about his abusive past, stating his dad believes the beatings were for his own good.
He prints a message his father has sent him, which reads, "If I had beat your a** one more time you probably would have been (U.S. President) Barack Obama."
Perry opened up about his horrific childhood earlier this month (Oct09), confessing he was beaten, abused and molested by some family members and neighbours.
He explained that working on new film Precious, about an abused teenage girl, prompted him to go public with the dark and painful secrets from his past,
In a candid letter to fans on his official website, Perry wrote, "I'm tired of holding this in. I don't know what to do with it anymore, so, I've decided to give some of it away."
He revealed he was "mercilessly" beaten by his drunken father over his love of reading and writing, and claims he was told, "You ain't s**t and ain't never gonna be sh*t!"
Perry added, "I heard this every day of my childhood. He got the vacuum cleaner extension cord and trapped me in a room and beat me until the skin was coming off my back. To this day, I don't know what would make a person do something like that to a child."
