PEGG MAKES SCOTTY ROLE A TRIBUTE TO DOOHAN
SIMON PEGG has promised his portrayal of SCOTTY in the new STAR TREK movie will be a "tribute" to the late JAMES DOOHAN, the actor who made the role famous.
Doohan's son Christopher plays an officer on the Starship Enterprise in the new film - and Pegg admits he spent hours grilling him for information about his dad, who died in 2005 aged 85.
Pegg says, "I didn't want to do an impression of James Doohan, because the guy's a legend.
"I wanted to make it a tribute to him. His son Chris was on the Enterprise with me. He was my assistant, so I was able to talk to him about his experiences with his dad."
