PATTINSON WAS DUMBFOUNDED BY VANITY FAIR AXE

ROBERT PATTINSON was left questioning his acting talent early on in his career when producers cut scenes he filmed for REESE WITHERSPOON period drama VANITY FAIR without telling him.
The Twilight star landed a small role as Witherspoon's son in the 2004 movie alongside his best pal, actor Tom Sturridge.
They attended a special screening for the film and were excited to see the finished product.
He tells Vanity Fair magazine, "(Sturridge) and I... we had scenes right next to each other and it was both our first jobs...
"We went to the screening, and we thought the whole thing was such a joke anyway, because we had no idea what we were doing. We were like, 'acting' or whatever - we had no idea - and we watched (Sturridge's) scene and were like, 'Yeah, that's pretty good, that's all right.'"
But Pattinson was lost for words when he realised his scenes had been left on the cutting room floor.
He adds, "I'm sitting there going, 'Ummm... really?' No one had told me that I had been cut out."
The disappointment turned out to be a good thing - Pattinson claims the casting director felt so bad about Vanity Fair, he invited the actor along to auditions for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, leading him to land the role of Cedric Diggory.
