PARTON UNVEILS NINE TO FIVE THE MUSICAL
DOLLY PARTON has written a Broadway musical version of her hit comedy movie NINE TO FIVE.
The show will open at New York's Marquis Theater next spring (09), and will feature the song Parton wrote for the 1980 film, plus a host of new tracks she has penned especially.
The film followed three workers; Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as they took on their sexist boss. Their roles will be filled onstage by Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty. Mark Kudisch will play the bad boss.
Parton - who's song Nine to Five earned her an Oscar nomination in 1981 - says of the project, "It's the most fun I've ever had as a songwriter."
The musical will fill the gap at the Marquis left by the soon-to-close John Waters' show Cry-Baby.
