PARKINSON FORGOT WAYNE'S NAME
British TV presenter MICHAEL PARKINSON once forgot the name of screen veteran JOHN WAYNE during a live interview.
Parkinson - who retires as a talk show host later this year (07) after 25 years - claims the 1975 interview was one of the most embarrassing moments of his career.
He says, "There have been times when I've looked at the person I'm interviewing, and they're chatting away, and I can't for the life of me remember their name.
"It happened with John Wayne. I simply couldn't think of his name, so I stared at my crib sheet and it said 'Duke', which was his nickname, of course, but that didn't do me much good."
