PARKER PERFUMIERS WAGE WAR AGAINST 'COPYCAT' SCENT

The manufacturers behind SARAH JESSICA PARKER's hit perfume range are taking legal action against a company allegedly bottling a copycat version.
Bosses at the actress' Very Fetching Co. have filed a trademark violation suit against Universal Perfumes & Cosmetics of Farmingdale, New York accusing the firm of selling an unauthorised version of Parker's scent Lovely that "may be counterfeit or stolen".
The lawsuit, which also names Zino Davidoff and Coty perfume firms as plaintiffs, even alleges the bogus fragrance could be hazardous as it "poses a large risk to public safety and health".
Attorneys for Parker's firm have demanded the bottles be recalled and destroyed, and asked for damages amounting to three times the total profit Universal made from selling the scent.
But David Wright, manager of Universal, maintains he was "shocked" by the allegations, telling the New York Post, "We discussed our matters with Coty, and we thought the matter was resolved."
The Sex and the City star launched best-selling perfume Lovely in 2005, before releasing five other scents as part of her brand.
