PARIS JAIL TERM "ABSURD"

Sending Paris Hilton to jail for violating the terms of her driving ban is "absurd", according to her sister Nicky.

In a display of sisterly affection, the brunette heiress stuck up for Paris, who is due to start her sentence of at least 23 days at the Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California on June 5th.

Paris was caught driving her car earlier this year despite having been suspended for an earlier drink-driving conviction.

But Nicky does not seem to think this deserves the punishment handed out last month.

"I think she should definitely be punished, but going to jail for a traffic violation is pretty absurd," she told People magazine.

She is not the only one to speak out against the jail sentence; Paris' The Simple Life co-star Nicole Richie has branded it "unfair".

Fans of Paris, fear not - it won't be long before she's back to her partying ways. According to People, the 26-year-old will be packing her bags and heading to the south of France as soon as her sentence is over.
