PAOLO NUTINI'S ACCIDENTAL MIX
Paolo Nutini insists he didn't deliberately mix genres on his new album 'Sunny Side Up', saying it is just an echo of his musical tastes.
Paolo Nutini didn't "plan" a diverse album.
The Scottish star's latest LP, 'Sunny Side Up', has been praised for showcasing a wide range of genres across its tracks but the 'Candy' singer says it wasn't a deliberate move.
He said: "Everyone is saying the album is something for everybody. But it wasn't planned like that. My grandfather introduced me to opera. I like some Scottish folk music and I'm a big fan of jazz great Cab Calloway. I like all sorts of music and that's how the album turned out."
The singer also spoke out about his young female fans, saying he doesn't mind being a pin-up - if he also has fans who appreciate his music.
He added: "Every time I sit and watch any of my favourite bands from the Sixties, there are screaming girls everywhere. That's fine as long as it's balanced out by people who actually listen and have something to say about music. After shows, you know, there's a lot of people who want a photo, but at the same time there's a lot of people who have a lot of nice stuff to say, who make stabs in the dark as to where a song has come from and actually hit the mark sometimes. That's quite cool."
