I am LDS. For those of you who do not know what that means, it stands for "Latter Day Saint". I would like to straighten out the rumors of polygamy. Years ago the Mormons did have more than one wife. Years ago there was slavery. Do we continue to ask people if they are slaves, just because it happened years ago? NO, and thank goodness there isn't slavery any more as no one should be treated that way. The misconception on polygamy with the mormons is because there are a few and I say few Mormons that still practice polygamy and I use the word Mormons lossly when describing these people. The Mormons like to live clean lives and abide by the laws. When polygamy had turned against the law, that is when the Mormons decided to no longer practice this following. The few families that still practice are excommunicated because they are breaking the law. So please do not associate those few with good law abiding Mormons.We use the same Bible other christians use and we like to follow the law. If you happen to come across a polygamist they will tell you they are the true mormons as they still follow what was taught years ago. Many things change over the years and they need to realize that what they are doing is breaking the law and they need to follow the rules of the law like everyone else. Then and only then can they say they are true Mormons.
