OSMOND CONTEMPLATED DRUG BUST TO REINVENT IMAGE

Seventies pop star DONNY OSMOND was once so desperate to rid himself of his clean-cut image, he considered setting up a drug bust. The singer, 49, rose to fame with the solo hits Puppy Love and Go Away Little Girl when he was just 14-years-old - and admits he soon grew tired of his wholesome image. He says, "As I grew up, I hated what I was. I started wearing torn jeans, I didn't shave... My publicist even put together a campaign to get me busted for drugs to dirty up my image. I almost went for it. "Then I thought: 'Hang on, I may have been told what to do and what to sing, but the bottom line is, I did it. I got up there and wore those clothes and sang those songs. I might as well embrace it and own it.'"
