OSCARS SET FOR A WET ONE

Staff at the 2008 Academy Awards in Hollywood have been working around the clock to keep the Oscars red carpet and paintwork outside the Kodak Theatre dry during torrential rain storms. Heavy showers have been pounding down on the site since Friday (22Feb08), and weather experts fear the rain will continue throughout Sunday (24Feb08). The storms have left event staff with the job of covering the red carpet with plastic and frantically drying areas that could not be protected, so the entrance to the big event looks perfect. Artists have also been recalled to the Kodak Theatre to repaint and touch-up the huge Oscar statues that grace the red carpet. One painter told WENN, "Everyone knows paint doesn't dry in the rain." The red carpet will be covered by a rain tent so nominees and presenters don't get wet as they arrive at the Kodak Theatre.
