OSBOURNE SUES IOMMI OVER BLACK SABBATH TRADEMARK

OZZY OSBOURNE is suing his BLACK SABBATH bandmate TONY IOMMI in a dispute over ownership of the group's name.
The rocker has filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Manhattan, New York, accusing guitarist Iommi of falsely proclaiming to be the sole owner of the Black Sabbath moniker after he filed documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Osbourne alleges he is largely responsible for catapulting the heavy metal stars to fame in the 1970s and that his "signature lead vocals" resulted in the band's "extraordinary success".
The singer also points out the dip in popularity of Black Sabbath between 1980 and 1996, when he was dropped from its line-up, as evidence of how instrumental he is to the band's legacy.
According to the New York Post, Osbourne is seeking a 50 per cent interest in the Black Sabbath trademark and a cut of the profits Iommi has garnered from the use of the name.

darkblade...are you flipping high? first of all, ozzy is no musician...ozzy has no rights to the band anymore, because they went by heaven & hell. ozzy did not contribute to any song making for them and hardly even helped contribute to old sabbath. butler and iommi both agreed that it was hell working with him, because he wouldn't let butler contribute to anything but writing the lyrics to every song and making a bass part. ozzy didn't have good pitch and, furthermore, he needs a teleprompter to remember lyrics. maybe if he had talent like the rest of the band and didn't do drugs and drink so much, he would actually be a respectable figure, but obviously that isn't going to happen. do a little research so you don't look foolish to somebody whose not even 18 yet.

And Ozzy has every right. Just because he doesn't use an instrument other than his lungs and vocal cords does not make him less of a contributor. That was what drove a wedge between him & the defendant years ago. Not being seen as the incredible musician that he is. Just look at his solo career and body of songs if you would deny his talent. When Ozzy left Sabbath they lost a huge part of why anyone were their fans - the joint sounds created by the fab 4. Ozzy has had people ripping him off from what he deserves as a musician for years - it's about time he stood up and said it's not going to fly any more. And - I don't think this is about Sharon, it's about Ozzy, who's mind and awareness have sharpened in his sobriety folks. And though he did lose some of your respect in his inebriation / addictive state on television, and did not let anyone into his personal sanctuary of his mind - that does not mean that he is an airhead or burnt out vegetable brain. Ozzy rules - just look at his Down to Earth CD, or his Black Rain CD. He is fabulous! Think about if this were you - wouldn't you think you deserve credit for your contribution to fame? I believe Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Ozzy Osbourne should have a 1/4 split each of the band name & proceeds. They all are BLACK SABBATH.
