OKA: 'HIRO ALMOST WASN'T A HERO'

Actor MASI OKA is grateful for picking up a prestigious award for his role in the hit show HEROES, because he almost missed out on the part. The Japanese-born actor - who plays Hiro in the popular series - scooped the Best Supporting Actor On Television at the 33rd Saturn Awards in Los Angeles in May (07). But Oka admits the show's creator Tim Kring never wrote in the part of Hiro until the last minute. He says, "Hiro was the last of the characters to be added. He was comic relief - a big geek. But people can relate to that."
