OHIO COP INSISTS HE TOOK NOTHING FROM PARKER SURROGATE'S HOME
SARAH JESSICA PARKER and MATTHEW BRODERICK's surrogate is testifying against an Ohio police officer accused of entering her home and taking personal items he hoped to sell to the media.
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter is one of two cops charged with scheming to sell belongings of the woman who carried and gave birth to the famous couple's twins to paparazzi.
In audio tapes played to the court on Thursday morning (19Nov09), Carpenter was heard telling investigators he only entered Michelle Ross' home to make sure everything was OK after driving by and spotting the basement door wide open.
In the taped interrogation, he insisted he took nothing and secured the home after making sure there had been no break-in.
Prosecutors claim Carpenter took personal belongings that identified Ross as Parker and Broderick's surrogate.
