O'BRIEN: I'M NOT INTERESTED IN ROCKY HORROR REMAKE
Richard O'Brien says he will not give his blessing to a remake of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The former Crystal Maze presenter starred and co-wrote the screenplay for the 1975 original of the camp film and had been named co-producer for the new version.
But he has now said he had not been approached about the movie and ruled out involvement "in any way".
O'Brien told the BBC: "I'm not co-producing it and I won't be involved in any way. The first I heard about it was when people sent me cuttings from US papers."
Original executive producer Lou Adler has announced he plans to return to his original role for the remake, which will be financed partly by the UK's Sky Movies and partly by MTV.
Adler said the Rocky Horror "phenomenon" had "reincarnated itself in numerous ways" since its birth as a stage show in 1973.
The 1975 movie, starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, elevated it to cult status. Songs including The Time Warp and I Can Make You A Man are expected to feature in the remake.
