OBAMA 'GOOD FOR ROCK N ROLL'
BILLY BRAGG has lauded the presidential victory of Barack Obama, saying his win is "good for rock n roll".
Writing on the NME Radio's In The Studio blog after returning from the US, the veteran singer-songwriter said he had been buoyed by the enthusiasm that young Americans had for the new president.
Bragg - famed for his politically-motivated music - believes Obama's victory is important for the global community.
He claimed he had never seen large groups of youths "so charged up, so engaged".
"I thought it might be to do with the release of 'High School Musical 3', but actually it turned out to be more about Obama, he explained.
"When they elect a president they elect a president for all of us. [Obama's victory is] good for America, it's good for the world, and it's good for rock 'n' roll."
Billy's latest album MR LOVE & JUSTICE is currently in the shops.
