OASIS' SCOTTISH CONCERT MARRED BY VIOLENCE

OASIS' highly-anticipated concert in Scotland descended into violence on Wednesday (17Jun09) - ending in eight arrests and a man needing medical attention after he was viciously beaten by a group of thugs.
The Wonderwall hitmakers put on a sold-out show at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, attracting almost 70,000 people.
But even before the rockers stepped onstage, trouble began brewing between locals and fans from rival city Glasgow, escalating into alcohol-fuelled fights between members of the crowd.
One fan was beaten by five other men as support act Kasabian performed, and had to be carried away on a stretcher once fellow revellers managed to split up the scuffle.
Audience members have slammed the event's security personnel, claiming stewards watched on as violence erupted all over the stadium.
One fan says, "There were two women stewards, they were trying to protect him but they weren't pulling the guys off him. It took about four or five minutes before the rest of the stewards arrived, but it was members of the crowd that broke the fight up.
"I think he might have been unconscious, though he was conscious when he was taken away on a stretcher after about 10 minutes of lying on the floor.
"The main culprit who was putting the boot in just walked away - it's a disgrace."
A police spokesperson confirmed there were eight arrests and two reports of assault at the concert.
