OASIS SCOOP TOP PRIZE AT SILVER CLEF AWARDS
British rockers OASIS took home the prestigious lifetime achievement award at the annual Silver Clef Luncheon this week (begs30Jun08) at London's Park Lane Hilton.
The Definitely Maybe stars were honoured at Friday's (04Jul08) ceremony for their highly successful 14 year career in the music industry - which has seen them sell 50 million records worldwide.
The band joined rock veterans Paul Weller and U2 as recipients of the award.
Scottish band The Fratellis scooped the gong for best British band, with fellow Scot Amy MACdonald taking home the best newcomer prize.
Canadian rock singer Bryan Adams was given the Ambassador of Rock award, while British soul sensation Estelle won the Download of the Year gong.
Legendary rocker Meat Loaf was given the ceremony's International Award.
The Clef Luncheon raises money for the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy charity, a group that uses music to improve the lives of disabled or traumatised children and adults.
