NYC GEARS UP FOR SPIDER-MAN 3

The eagerly-awaited third instalment of the SPIDER-MAN franchise, SPIDER-MAN 3, is preparing for its debut at the end of April.

The world premiere takes place in Tokyo on April 16th, with the film going public around the world from May 1st. However, New York – the home of the fictional superhero and his alter ego Peter Parker – is gearing up for a web-slinging extravaganza to mark the release of the film.

New York City is set to host a Spider-Man themed week in honour of the superhero, with a marching band leading the film's stars including TOBEY MAGUIRE and KIRSTEN DUNST down a black carpet on the film's US debut on April 30th.

The black carpet refers to the theme of the new film – the alien lifeform Venom which takes over Spider-Man's body and turns his trademark red and blue suit black.

"Bringing exciting and new events to NYC and its community is one of the major goals of the festival," the event's co-founder Jane Rosenthal said.

"It's a great opportunity for all Spider-Man fans and movie buffs to help us kick off the summer movie-going season."
