NOTEBOOK DIRECTOR SUES FILM STUDIO

THE NOTEBOOK filmmaker NICK CASSAVETES is suing bosses of a leading Hollywood studio after they reportedly dropped him as a director and refused to pay him any money.
The screenwriter claims he was hired by New Line Cinema to "supervise the script" for movie Elephant Orphanage, for which he agreed a fee of $275,000 (£171,875).
He was also reportedly promised "several million dollars" to direct the film - but Cassavetes insists he had to completely re-write the script, which he would normally charge $750,000 (£468,750) for.
In the lawsuit, Cassavetes states that after he finished the script movie bosses dropped him as director of the picture and refused to pay him any money.
The My Sister's Keeper writer is requesting $1,050,000 (£656,250) for his services, plus the money he was allegedly promised to direct the film.
