NORWAY'S QUART ROCK FESTIVAL SCRAPPED
The promoters of July's (08) Quart Festival in Norway have pulled the plug on the heavy rock music event due to poor ticket sales.
The festival was scheduled to take place from 2 to 5 July (08) in Kristiansand, and featured Cradle of Filth, Nile and The Dillinger Escape Plan among its top acts.
Festival organisers were forced to pull the plug on the 2008 event on Friday (06Jun08) and file for bankruptcy after only 2,000 tickets had been sold.
Town mayor Per Sigurd Sorensen has been told of the festival's cancellation and has offered the following statement: "It's really a pity. Quart is a very important festival for Kristiansand."
Quart festival boss Stein J. Olsen tells Blabbermouth.net, "We are proud of this year's festival line-up and the programme had received acclaim within the music business. At the same time, we have to admit that we didn't hit bull's eye with the audience."
