NO MORE BAFTAS FOR FRY
British actor STEPHEN FRY has relinquished his role as host of the Bafta Film Awards, after six years fronting the show. The WILDE star's witticisms and eloquent introductions have been hugely popular with star-studded audiences but Fry is adamant next year's (FEB07) ceremony will see a new face at the microphone. He says, "It has been a tremendous six years, and I look forward to watching it without nerves in the future." Chairman of the Bafta Film Committee, DAVID PARFITT, has praised Fry for his hosting talents: "Stephen has been a wonderful host and it has been a pleasure to work with him for the last six years. "We hope to invite him back as a nominee in the not too distant future." The committee is now looking for a new host, with the British TV presenter JONATHAN ROSS tipped as favourite to take over.
