NO CRIMINAL CONDUCT IN LEVERT'S DEATH
LATEST: Prosecutors investigating the death of R+B singer SEAN LEVERT have ruled out any suspicion of criminal conduct.
The 39-year-old son of The O'Jays star Eddie Levert fell unconscious while behind bars at Cuyahoga County Jail on 30 March (08), where he had been serving a sentence for failing to pay child support.
He was taken to the local Lutheran Hospital, but was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
His widow, Angela Lowe, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Cleveland prison officials, accusing them of neglecting Levert's medical needs.
But after an internal investigation by the Cleveland Sheriff's department, criminal conduct was ruled out of the case on Tuesday (16Sep08).
A coroner ruled the star had died of natural causes, citing lung disease, heart disease, high blood sugar and withdrawal from anti-anxiety drug Xanax as the reasons for his death.
