NIMOY TO SELL OFF SPOCK EARS TO BENEFIT THEATRE CHARITY
STAR TREK icon LEONARD NIMOY is to auction off a pair of his Mr. Spock ears to raise cash for charity.
The actor will be honoured at an upcoming Company of Angels charity gala in Los Angeles and he's celebrating by clearing out his attic and selling off a treasure trove of sci-fi memorabilia.
Also going under the hammer at the Culture Clash event on Saturday (17Oct09) are action figures and one-of-a-kind Star Trek memorabilia donated by William Shatner and George Takei, who will be among the guests paying tribute to Nimoy.
But the ears Nimoy wore as Spock are the big attraction and auction bosses expect them to fetch up to $10,000 (GBP6,600).
The charity gala marks the 50th anniversary of Los Angeles' oldest non-profit professional theatre.
