UGLY BETTY star BECKI NEWTON plays close attention to the other attendees at red carpet events - so she can give tips to writers on the hit U.S. show.
The actress plays receptionist Amanda Tanen in the series, which focuses on the staff of a glossy women's magazine.
And Newton admits she is constantly studying people from the fashion and entertainment industry - so she can report back to her Ugly Betty bosses and provide them with ideas.
She tells British Glamour magazine, "I go to trendy restaurants and red-carpet events and observe the real life Amandas, then email my ideas to the writers. The most truly funny people have no idea that they actually are (funny)."
