NEWSPAPER APOLOGISES TO PRINCE WILLIAM'S GIRLFRIEND
LATEST: A British newspaper has apologised to the girlfriend of British royal PRINCE WILLIAM for printing photographs obtained while she felt "harassed".
KATE MIDDLETON filed a formal complaint with British media watchdog the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) on Thursday (29MAR07) after the Daily Mirror printed photographs of her, which she claims infringed upon her right to privacy.
The pictures featured the 25-year-old wearing sunglasses, while carrying a takeaway cup of coffee and her car keys on her way to work.
And now the Daily Mirror has admitted it "got it wrong".
Editor RICHARD WALLACE says, "The Daily Mirror has always steered a sensible course in the use of photographs of Kate Middleton and other public figures.
"On Thursday we published an innocuous picture of Ms Middleton walking down the street with a cup of coffee.
"It was taken by a freelance photographer in circumstances where we were later told she felt harassed. We got it wrong and we sincerely regret that."
However, a spokesman for the PCC says, "As far as the PCC is concerned, we're still in the process of investigating the complaint. It's for the complainant to see how she feels about this response."
